Podcast Workspace — an offline desk for a podcaster
An offline desktop workspace for a Persian-language podcaster: episodes, seasons, voice notes, ideas, tags, timestamped notes and transcripts, in one place.
A Windows app at version 1.22, open source on GitHub — transcription and full-text search both running entirely on the machine.
The problem
A podcast's raw material — voice notes, ideas, notes, episode files — scatters across folders and messengers, and finding "that sentence in that episode" means listening again. The fix had to stay on the podcaster's own computer and work without the internet, transcription included.
A Windows desktop app in Python 3.12 and PySide6, on SQLite through SQLAlchemy and Alembic.
Clean layers. Domain, repositories, services and UI are separate, and every heavy job — transcription, audio processing, import — runs off the UI thread, so the window never freezes.
Transcription on the machine. faster-whisper turns audio into text locally, and SQLite FTS5 makes every transcript and note searchable in Persian.
A player made for notes. A waveform, and notes pinned to an exact second that jump back to it.
Episodes, seasons, ideas and tags in one place; voice notes imported from a Bale bot; and a checklist before each episode is published.
